  1. I run a triple chainring and lately the flight deck will not
record the chainring changes when I change from the 52 to
the 39 ring. It will also sometimes miss the change to the
39 ringalthough not consistently. I have been told by the
local dealer it is most likely in the levers as that is
where the most movement and wear will be. He however is not
that keen on taking it apart as he has not worked on these
levers much. Any body know how complicated it is to
dismantle the Shimano Ultegra levers? The way I see it is:
if it does not work now, how can I bugger it up? If I fix
it, then I will claim superior intelegence, but then I just
might have to replace anyway. Any assistance would be
    appreciated. TIA Hop

    Hello,

I had some problems with two Flightdecks not reading
properly after a period of time.It turned out to be a
problem at the interface between the contacts in the hoods
and the 'plug' at the end of the incoming wire.Shimano are
aware of this problem and supply small shims to go under the
lever contacts in the hoods. My bike shop cut me a couple off
a sheet in some new levers. They are like thickish clear
plastic. These shims lift and support the hood contacts and
since installing these I have had no further trouble. Hope
    this is of assistance.
