Hello all!
I'm looking at a Shimano SG chainring 'E-42'
Does anyone know where this would come from?
Is it compatible with A or B type chainrings?
I currently have a 53-39 setup on a 9 speed Ultegra. Will the 42 tooth work?

If you have a 53B big chainring, the 'B' means its ramped and pinned to
assist upshifting from a 39t small ring, so going to a 42 (regardless
of type) will theoretically not shift as well. I suggest you install
the 42 you have and see for yourself. It will probably shift just fine. -
