Hi,
As I'm a poor student w/o money to buy new flash rd shoes 🙁 , I was thinking of getting a pair of shimano A520 rd/touring pedals. These seem to be the only ones that'll take the recessed cleats on my touring shoes. Anyon got any experience of these, mucho grateful for any info! Thanks

Got those two weeks ago on EBay and used them twice. They came as a replacement for M520 that gave me hot spots even with pretty rigid Pear Izumi mountain shoes. First impressions: no more hot spots after 30+50 miles, although the shape of the pedal does not really match the sole of PI shoes; engagement is OK, somehow the pedals are always in the right position; release is MUCH more difficult in comparison to M520 with simmilar spring settings. Overall very good inexpensive pedals, work fine with walkable mountain shoes if for you it is also important point.

Hi,
Have used them for a few wks now and def. no more numb toes after just an hour of riding. Have not used the M520s but agree that they're slightly stiffer getting out of despite having set the spring tension to the lowest possible. Do you know whether the SPD-SL/SPD-R ones are easier?
Cheers
