Shimano 9 speed chains/rivet tool

At home, I have a Shimano rivet tool (before 9 speeds chains came out) and don't remember having
the level of difficulty with it when I punched out a chain pin than with the rivet tools we used on
the road.

I use the Park tool on those chains and it seems to do pretty well.

No special tool required in spite of what Shimano says. Make sure you grease the threads of the
chain tool.

As another poster mentioned, the Park chain tool does a good job.
