Derailer adjustment is off.Too tight hi limit, too much cable tension or combination of both. The LBS nose picker must be a moron too if he/she can't make it right.You shouldn't need to be making any adjustment to the 'outside of the bike' when in the big ring,and smaller cogs,that aspect of FD position takes care of itsself when everything else is right....www.parktool.com has derailer adjustment in the repair section.
