  1. Wife went to the library this AM, and stopped by Citarella on the way
back. Shad roe and boned shad (from southern rivers) were in so she
    brought both home.

We had shad roe and bacon for lunch. Started two slices of thick
smoked bacon from a local farmer in a big CI pan, and lighted the
    oven.

When bacon was near done, put the two pieces of roe (two sides from
the same fish) on the slices. Browned them on one side and put in th
eoven for 3 minutes to finish. Put some baby bok choy in the pan near
    the end.

Served with sourdough bread and white Rioja.

Will have the boned fillet tonight.

    Shad roe...Springtime is near.

I can never seem to find it here in the wilds of NJ...what is a pair
going for in the city these days?

They were between $5 and $6 for a medium-sized pair. They are about
the first of the season. They will come down later.

Not bad, though. I remember paying that much or more years ago at the
    old Balduccis.
