  1. I'm just interested to know why this entire forum seems to have a grudge against Saracen Mountain Bikes.

It seems to me that Saracen offer a well priced, good-looking range of bikes with reasonable features and which seem to be offered at most bike stores and reputable dealers.

Sure, these bikes may not be up to the standards of your two and a half thousand pound Specialized and Cannondale dream machines, but surely for four hundred quid they're not half bad?

I dont know Saracen bikes. But I'd be real hesistant to buy a bike by a company that doesnt at least make an upper end/expensive bike. That's not to say that Saracen doesnt, but if all they make is inexpensive bikes, I'd look elsewhere. Giant and Specialized and Trek and Cannondale (etc) all have entry level bikes for >$300us about 240 euros or 200 pound I think.

I don't know what you mean by upper-end, but Saracen's most expensive bike is about £1500, I think. Does this qualify?
