i'm planning a trip of 2 wks in late sept/oct. planning on walking the rob roy way. my planning goes
like this: fly to london from chicago. spend a day or two in london [hostels, hotels, bb's?]. train
to glasgow [do they run regularly from london?]. rent a van or a large car and start the trail[ 3
wives won't be walking but doing their own thing and meeting us at the nightly accommodations [i
assume hotels, hostels, bb's will still be open?]. wind up in edinburgh spending a day or two there
and driving back to london to spend the remaining time. a while back a friend suggesred if i ever
get to scotland not to miss the isle of skye. don't have a world map handy but is this anywhere in
the general vicinity? i'd appreciate any comments, advice, or suggestions. thanx, rick

miles by road.Quoted message said:

Midges can be a real pain. Take an effective repellant if you head towards Skye in September. You
might consider taking an antihistamine too, if you are usually badly affected by insect bites.
Piriton is good.Funnily enough, I was in the Kyle of Lochalsh in August last year for four days - and hardly saw a
midge. Maybe I was just lucky.Have fun Andrew Kay

Comments - Thanks for asking, you made me look at official website.
robroyway.fsnet.co.ukrobroyway.fsnet.co.ukOpen ↗ which I've no doubt you have? Advice - Don't worry about
accomodation, all will still be open. Get a midge repellent, they can be bl**dy annoying. Suggestion
- Be quick, before we start requiring "biometric" passports before your country can produce them :-)One thing, the website looks quite informative, but the accomodation listed is certainly not
exhaustive, if there's nothing you fancy, have a search on the internet, I use it myself to book
accomodation for trips away. Have a good trip, let us know if you have any more (specific) queries,
and I'll look forward to your after-walk comments! (I haven't walked the Rob Roy way myself, but
there's usually someone lurking hereabouts who can talk from experience).KRO
