seatpost diameter for old bianchi

I've got a lugged steel frame, 70mm bb, 126mm spacing, forward opening
dropouts, says "made in taiwan" "strada" and "special tubing". Also has
a 86-87 world champion (colorado springs) sticker. I tried putting a
26.8mm seatpost from another old bianchi in it- didn't want to go in
more than a 16th of an inch or so. What would be my next logical
"standard" size to try?

thanks

Not on my list but a 1991 Bianchi Advantage (IIRC same
frame) takes a 26.0.

Any reasonably competent LBS can try a few posts with you
and determine this accurately in a minute. It's difficult to
measure a seat tube's aperture, especially one that's not
quite round. Best to slip in a post and check the fit at
least a few inches down the seat tube. Your new post should
not wiggle 4 or 5 inches in and shouldn't take any effort to
insert/withdraw. Posts are sized in increments of 0.2mm.

Thanks, I've got a 26.0mm around here somewhere. I discounted 26.6mm
because I *thought* it was an unusual size (I may be wrong on this); I
figured the next size I would want to try is 26.4mm

I tried my 26.0 post and it wobbled around quite a bit so I think I can
automatically elimate 26.2 and probably even 26.4mm. If I have time I
will try to put in a 26.6 tomorrow.

Mr. Brown's site listed the Strada as a 1996 model, not sure what year
this one is.

Looks like 26.4mm is the best candidate. Wobbles a little bit but I
didn't have a binder bolt to tighten. The 26.6 was not easy to install,
and I gave up, not wanting to scratch the post as it wasn't mine.
