I accidently dropped my saddle height when loosening up the seat post screw a few weeks ago and had to guestimate where I had originally had it...I think it may be too high right now.
I'm OK on the bike for the first 25 miles or so..but then my upper hamstrings really start to tighten up towards my butt and I get a sharp pain right under my glutes. Low back then starts to scream.
Has anyone experienced this before? Might I have positioned my seat too high? Or is this a fore/aft position thing?
Try moving the seat down further. That's a definite sign that your leg(s) is (are) stretching too much to reach the pedal(s).
A general way to find correct seat height is, with your heel on the pedal (either in your biking shoes or barefoot) and the pedal as far down as possible, your leg should be straight but you shouldn't be rocking your hips. From there, lower the seat if your hams hurt, higher if your thighs hurt.
