  1. Anyone have any ideas as to WHY the below .. happens?

"As a SCUBA diver I know that if I eat only meats that begin with a "F", (
fish or fowl) and cook with a "B", (baked, boil or broil), for 2 weeks
before a big dive trip I can double my time on a tank of air and I don't get
low BG's. If I eat a beef steak at night, then the next day 15 mins - 20mins
per tank of air. I've tested this on myself many times. So, if I want to
swim like a fish then I eat like a fish!"

You can greatly increase your bottom time just by relaxing more and exerting
yourself less. I expect that you are subconsciously doing something of the
sort. It isn't possible for you to blind yourself to what you've eaten so
it's a hard thing to reliably test. But, if it works for you, for whatever
reason. Stick with it. Note that many fish don't eat chicken. And they are
appalling at any sort of preparation that requires an oven. Though it's not
    entirely their fault.
