Apropos the recent thread on tools for the roadside. I went out on my
tourer today for a few post-rain miles. The bar-end mirror was slipping
so I stopped to tighten it. Adjustment is by a little crosshead screw.
My toolkit doesn't contain a crosshead screwdriver because, well, my
bike doesn't have any crosshead screws, does it? (Apart, obviously,
from the one on the mirror... :-( )

I carry a little penknife, mainly 'cos it's got a bottle opener, but
it also has a screwdriver. Makes me feel suitably Prepared, in a boy
scout sort of way, too.--

scout sort of way, too.The limit stops have slot head screws and I do have a slot head driver,
but no bottle opener (which may be a generational thing - old guys like
me learned to remove crown corks in several different ways).Incidentally, I managed to tighten the mirror screw with the leg of the
tweezers in my first aid kit. Why tweezers? Carried ever since getting
a kneefull of fine gravel many years ago.--
