You guys have these dudes in your gym? There was some guy on the bench machine screaming after every set. So far, they are the most annoying "gym rats" for me. How do you guys deal with them?
There's always a grunters or two in every gym. They want attention. Just ignore them.
I sometimes grunt. It's not for attention. I try to suppress it but it just happens.
I do too, but not loudly and I try to suppress it... There is a difference between grunting a bit at the end of a heavy set and screaming on every rep. ;-) -- Om.

I've never been in a gym with enough deadlifters for ANY deadlift behavior to be seriously annoying.
Hugh
The gym I work out at is "hard core". There are competitive bodybuilders and power lifters there, and trophys on the trophy shelf. ;-)
Early in the morning, it's not as much of a problem. Most of the real idiots work out later in the day.
Like the PL'ers I complained about earlier that leave 9 fricken sets of 45 lb. plates on the leg press for somebody else to unrack. :-P
That's a workout in itself!
For some reason, the leg press is exempt from the requirement to unrack the weights. Dunno what it is.
Hugh
And sometimes the squat racks. ;-P -- Om.

The problem is that while grunting may be irritating to some, it is a great deal more socially acceptable than the unpleasant farts that some lifters produce while straining on the effort.
