scratch on carbon fiber fork

If you're in serious doubt, have someone you trust (a good mechanic, a seasoned tech-headed rider, or your neighbor in the carbon fiber business) take a look.

Generally, though, common lore on the subject has lead to lots of overreacting. You've got to keep an eye out for gouges, cracks, and other sorts of damage, but what you're really looking for is signs of suspect structural integrity. A wee chip or scratch shouldn't worry you. Even a tiny pit or a crack needn't be a problem, so long as the component remains solid and the carbon isn't fraying or doing anything else weird. Plenty of carbon frames and equipment crash all the time to no lasting effect.
Again, have a trusted source check it out if you're worried, but it sounds like nothing. Pay attention over the next few rides. Be an alert bike owner and you should be fine.
