  1. Had a brain fart an posted this in the middle of a thread elsewhere...sorry
    folks

Today I received tickets for my bike from Edinburg to Thurso. Shame they
only cover half of the trains that I will be using. Shame I still don't
have any rail tickets. Customer relations dept. was less than useful.

Central trains who are the subcontractors for ticketing are bizaare in their
accounts for the whereabouts of the train tickets. Looks like I'll be
heavily dependent on the emergency ticket issuing procedure when I get back
    from the family holiday.

    Pick out *the* someone then......

Not someone but a whole gang of employees and subcontractors. There is a
systemic problem with Scotrail. Apparently they don't despatch tickets
until a few days before the journey or so I'm informed by a non-Scotrail
person' No-one seems to have informed. the telesales staff who promised
them in 3-5 days; a telesales person who was chasing up the original
purchase a fortnight later who said that the first telesales person was
wrong and delivery was in 5-7 /working days/ and that my tickets had been
despatched the previous week; a different telesales person who told me a
week later that the tickets were available from a fast ticket machine and
that the first two were wrong in promising a postal delivery; yet another
telesales person who couldn't find any record of the transaction. A post
sales operative who promised to ring back with a solution to the problemand
failed to do so. A secon post sales operative who found the prvious post
sales operative who told me the tickets had been despatched the previous
week and to reassure my about bike transport was rebooking my bike on the
four trains that I'll be using which led to the arrival of the two tickets
and not four for the bike. Customer relations claim to have booked the bike
onto the other parts of the journey but I'm not holding my breath.

Nah, they are typos and are still fewer than the errors in the Scotrail
    transactions ;-)

I can't believe how whingy this has made me but I don't think I've had such
a poor level of service since attempting to buy a novelty mug which took
    three months to complete satisfactorarily.

Virgin Trains will sell tickets for any public railway service
running on Network Rail metals. They post them, from Edinburgh, the
    next working day.
