I suffer from sciatica and have had one microdisectomy back
in 1998. Occassionally if I slept wrong or twisted in bed
wrong, I'd get a spasm down my entire left leg close to
paralyzing until I shifted.
In march I woke paralyzed on the left, but it had been a
pretty deep alcohol induced sleep. To this day I have not
recovered from the numbness and burning sensations still
going on on the left leg/foot.
I was admitted to ER via ambulance because I thought I had a
stroke. After my blood came back, I had a CPK level of
200,245. They diagnosed me with rhabdo and I spent 10 days
in the ICU and on dialysis for another month.
Rhabdo is usually a compression injury result, ok, I can see
sleeping in a bed for 6 hours and not moving, but why so
sudden, my CPK level was 12 hours from when I went to bed.
My question is, has anyone heard of a sciatic spasm causing
such a thing?
And how likely is it that I'd develop rhabdo in 12 hours and
have a CPK level that elevated?
And finally, when they do my nerve conduction study and it
points back to my L-4 L-5, as I think it will, is a 2nd
microdisectomy even possible?
