  1. The saddle I currently have on my Trek 1000 is killing my rear-end. I see me getting used to it....or should I be looking at a different saddle. BTW, I just started riding again only yesterday.

  2. Try a great pair of shorts or bib (do a search for brands, etc) before you start changing seats. Check to make sure it's level. You should be able to go 1/2 hour before it starts hurting and since you've only ridden for a day maybe you need more time. Ever ride anything before to compare it to?

  3. What hurts? Try to imagine what shape seat will feel better to your butt. Do you need more padding, or a wider back part, or a cut-out in the middle, or a narrower front? Maybe your seat just needs to be adjusted, it should be straight and level. Your seat height might be off, or possibly the bars. There's been volumes written about fitting a bike in these forums, read up before you buy anything.

  4. I'd stick with what you have for at least a week or two, unless the pain becomes unbearably bad--it can take several days for a saddle to break in and fit you comfortably, and it can take your rear a few days to get used to it again. After that, if its still bothering you a lot, then start your search for a new, more comfortable saddle. Good luck, and welcome back to cycling!!
