  1. Hey everyone,

I like my cheap old MTB saddle but don't like my Sella Italia LDY on the road bike. Is there something wrong with me?😄 Anyways i thought i would measure them to see if i can work it out...i don't know if there are certain standards ways of measuring but from the measurements i took both the saddles were pretty similiar varying only my about 10 mm or less. The width of the saddles are fine- (MTB 145mm, road 155mm). The lengths is pretty much the same too.
The MTB saddle has a groove running like a V from the back to the front whereas the road saddle has a gel cut out. Funny thing is, the gel seems as soft as the rest of the nose area which is sorta self defeating. Also, on the road saddle, the depression at the back between the seat bone areas seems to rise as it comes to the gel area. The depression is also shallower than on the MTB, which has a very nice groove. I thought maybe the gel patch was too far forward, but it stops 80mm from the nose- exactly where the MTB groove stops.
So maybe i am taking this all too seriously. I love my MTB saddle- only thing i dont like is that the back end is too soft and the fact that u couldn't really put it on a road bike. Anyone know any road saddle that sorta fits this description for a road bike? Thanx

  2. There are several LDY models now.
The one with the slot all the way through, the "Gel Flow" is good.

The one with no slot in the base, yes turn it over and look, no cutout, useless. I have one of these for training ladies. I had to cut the slot with a Dremel tool.

There is a topic in Womens Cycling on this problem. http://www.cyclingforums.com/t202487-seat-problems-selle-italia-ldy-genuine-gel.html

Go for A Serfas Ladies RX.

  3. Yes, i have been to that thread previously and have also commented there. My saddle HAS a slot underneath but it is still no good for me. Thanx for the tip about the Serfas saddle, i shall have to check it out
