I have rust on (sapim) spokes. Should I oil them to prevent it? It looks very ugly. (I tried grease but it didn't "stick"😉

Sure. Go ahead and oil them. Steel wool or bronze wool can be used to polish them, assuming they aren't painted/coated. Repeat as required.
