  1. I've just started trying to run again after a number of years away from the sport. Other than age
and weight (I'm now 42 and 170 lbs instead of 25 and 140 lbs) the other difference between then and
now is that I wear hearing aids (small CIC type). Does anyone else here wear aids of this type? Do
you wear then while you train? Race?

As I've spent most of my life with regular hearing (I got the aids in my late 30's) I'm not
particularly comfortable with not being able to hear what's going on around me. On the other hand, I
can't imaging that running with the aids in would be very good for the aids, nor is it very
comfortable for me. I can deal with solitary training runs in silence, but what about races? How
does one deal with not being able to hear instructions, etc, on raceday? I'm planning on running the
500 festival mini-marathon in May, and with 25,000 runners, it's not like I'll be able to hand the
aids to my wife just before the gun, and have her meet me right at the finish line. It seems to me
that I'd have to spend an awful lot of time in relative silence. So are there any other HA wearers
here? Do you run with the aids in? Carry them with you somehow? Leave them at home?
