Choice was to ride Mercer (flat and I've done it 10 times this summer)
with the club or Wissahickon with some other MTB buddies. So I choose
Wissahickon. I haven't ridden here since early spring and it was
actually kind of a fun change. I brought out the pig bike so I good do
a little hucking. Some of the climbs were a [censored], but the drops were
superb. Well worth the extra poundage bike. When you know a place
well, it makes taking risks a little easier. I was able to hit some
great air off of the water bars and the rocks were no match for the 6"
monster bike. A great ride!
Yesterday, I was supposed to go to JT and kayak the Lehigh. Due to the
lack of moisture here, the plans changed. I drove down to Long Beach
Island (Barnaget Bay) and did 4.5 hours of paddling in the river, marsh,
and bay. The bay was nice and choppy from hurrican Ophelia, which gave
me some whitewater to play with. I'll be back that way again since it's
only 40 minutes from my front door.
Here's a gallery of the pics from kayaking (http://tinyurl.com/dcl53).
The sun didn't peak out until later, so they are kind of crappy. Don't
let the ocean fool you landlocked folk, I actually hate the shore and it
smells funny.
