Sunny Phoenix, Arizona.....NOT!
For two days my riding buds and I have been trying to ride but it's been on
the nasty side of the weather for Phoenix. Saturday we were all set to ride
and my west side bud calls and tells me it's raining and the temperature
dropped substantially. I reply with my usual "you pu**y" and then call up
the third of our usual trio only to look out the window and see all hell
break lose with wind and rain. A visual on the thermometer reveals 46°F.
It was just in the 50's????? So we bagged the ride Saturday.
So we tried again today. The time we chose was mid morning and wouldn't you
know it.....it started to rain again.
I know some of you are thinking "what a bunch of wimpy girly boys" but we
live where it's sunny 360 days a year.......so why ride in the rain? My
riding buds decide to go shopping (insane they are) and I stayed home
catching up on the couple of newsgroups I frequent when.. (music playing dum
dum dummmmmmm) the sun peaks through. I dash for the gear and off I went.
The trail was in good shape, a lot of grip and only a few puddles to splash
through. I got in almost two hours, nearly 17 miles of ST and 1770 feet of
climbing in. The temperature hovered at 51°F. When I hung out my clothes
my wife commented it looked like a bunch of riders had gone with me....
Layering, the warmth of champions!
Gary (sorry, no photos, too busy riding)
