Tuffgrrl and I have been doing a lot of nooner type rides from her shop
downtown. We can do these 10 mile loops combining urban and dirt. There's an
amazing amount of single track all along the river. We've been watching and
waiting for the new bike/pedestrian bridge to be completed. I think I
mention we were watching them put up some fencing last week.
Today, we wend our way through downtown, past all the old mansions and
mountains of golden crispy leaves to some of the trails that lead down to
the river. Wow- the bridge looks done, but it is open? There are a bunch
of construction guys standing around, so we do our sweetest girly smiles
and ask them if it's open yet.... well, not really but..... sure why not!
We give them a smile and a wave, they warn us about the cable up on the
other end... and we are pretty sure we are the first bikes over the new
bridge as it's not officially open yet. There's an obstacle course of
construction tools littered on the decking but that's no problem to thread
around. We are bummed that neither of us has a camera!! We wave at the guys
as we get to the other side and go on our merry way for the rest of our
ride.

this.
The rest of the ride is dirt and leaves, and as always we finish through the
park. Tuffgrrl's got little obstacles picked out. Today I jumped off the
stair by the carousel, and then managed the highest front wheel lift I've
ever done to get up on a deck. Have to remember how to put my feet into it
now, to bring the rear wheel up.
We are trying to get in as many of these lunchtime rides as we can.
