  1. I took one last ride today on my favorite trail before I move away next week. All and all it was
really nice. I was prepping for the beautiful downhill I love to do so much and changed my mind on
one route because it was covered in wet leaves. Knowing it is hard enough to maneuver it dry, I
opted to take a less steep route down. Once I had gotten almost to the bottom I was coming over a
wooden footbridge that covers a nice ditch. I guess my speed was a little too fast and the bridge a
little too slick because my front tire kicked out and before I realized it my head had bounced off
of the ground. Thank God for the makers of Giro. My shoulder took a nice impact as well. My
adrenaline was up and a couple who were hiking witnessed it, so out of embarrassment more than
anything else I jumped back on the bike and got out of the area. I stopped to readjust my broken
visor and did a quick inspection of the bike. The shoulder was still hurting pretty badly but not
enough to keep me from continuing on home. So the last ride of my favorite mountain was pretty
interesting after all. The shoulder is still pretty messed up, taking my shirt on and off is a
challenge all it itself. Not sure what is exactly wrong with it but hopefully it is nothing serious.
Never had one dislocated before so hopefully that is not it, although I'm sure the pain would be a
lot worse if that were it. So anyway..went out and bought some pain killers, Bengay, and two 40's of
Old English so needless to say the pain is quite bearable right now. Hope it is healing fast as I
have to do a lot of heavy lifting during the move next week. Ok..thanks for reading...Mike

  2. Heres a trick I learned moving with a snapped collarbone. Cut a hole in the side of the box. Now
    carry it with one arm.

Damn. That sucks. It's kind of like the last hard fall I took on my shoulder. After a few weeks it
felt OK. Then it would be sore on and off, and then when we had a baby it started to really hurt a
lot. That's why I had surgery a couple of months ago. Feels much better now. Hopefully you didn't do
a labrum and rotator cuff tear job like I did.

    Hope the move goes well.

    Matt
