Clear, cool, and mysterious was how the night started out.
Mysterious because it was a mystery as to why John B.,
Roger, and I were the only ones there. So we waited knowing
that somebody with some knowledge of the trails would show
up. Alas, ten minutes later we ventured out on our own. We
weren't sure with the rain and snow earlier how things would
be on the trails. But, amazingly enough they were still fast
without a lot of water. In fact, we even had some snow to
crunch through. The new HID's were fantastic. It's amazing
how much confidence these lights can instill in you. We
maintained a pretty good pace until we got to the first dirt
road. Where's the pink? We must of put on a mile going up
and down it until we found the trail. We rode fast and
furious (OK, maybe not fast) through the moist tundra, only
stopping to move some newly fallen branches. We turned
around before the bridges due to a wash out (I think that
part of the trail will need to be redirected).
Back at Anapas after 15+ miles we fed our bellies. It was a
fun night. Tomorrow AM, more fun at KG2!
