I couldn't have done this 4 yrs ago when I started
mtb'ng. I rode 15 mi. of hilly fire roads today (single
tracks were closed due to rain) with a friend who had
a 27 spd, who is relatively new to the sport. I was
leaving his butt on the hills, even though a couple
of them almost killed me. ("A climber I'm not"
remember?) I guess that makes mea "non-beginner",
but still enjoy the sport as a beginner.

If you are riding the New Light Trails, and the tech sections of Rocky
Road.....You are not a beginer. Maybe lung wise...If that were the case I
am still a beginer.

Hey a local...
I like New Light and Rocky Road both. I like Hog Run too.
I still like going to Crabtree to get an aerobic workout on
single tracks.

I'm no local. I ride there a lot. The drive from Colorado kills me though.
I go to Cary for training a couple times a year.
