Does anyone know where I can download/get hold of some mountain bike routes around Chamonix.
Also, has anyone every been there before. I'm considering taking the kids bikes but I'm unsure as to whether there will be any suitable easy terain.
Any info is much appreciated.
Are you planning on just doing downhill?
You should phone the Office d'Haute Montagne and the Tourist Office who can both supply you with VTT guides to the area. The valley has very steep sides but is wide and flat at the bottom so your kids should find something. There are also some 'balcons' which are flat.

I've been there before but have only ridden on the roads, and it was a long time ago.
One thing me and my mates did while we were there was take the train up to the Mer de Glace (big glacier) then walk back down the trail. It's a long-ish but very enjoyable stroll, roughly equivalent to the height of Snowdon from the glacier to the town, if I recall correctly, and quite a few cyclists passed us along the way - I reckon if you can take your bikes on the train that would be a very pleasant little ride.
