Rounding off point on Brifters?

I hate the point on the top of the rubber grip on Shimano
brifters. Has anyone tried rounding them off? Is so, how did
it work out?

Believe me, I'd love to upgrade to the 10sp, but SWMBO does
not see it in the future! Is there an after-market grip with
a flatter top?

Thanks

Campagnolo ERGO is flatter especially when compared to
the DA10 STI. Some people prefer that ERGO shape. If your
are still 9V, change the shifter disc to 9V and you are
ready to roll.

I apologize for sounding trivial. ERGO setup requires Campy
rear deraileurs to make it "right". To complete the package,
I would recommend a Shimano chain. I guess my point is try
the ERGO on a loaner bike and see.
