Garlic & Herb Cheese Spread
It's a great time to do a holiday appetizer exchange! Consider preparing
cream cheese based spreads, dips, and cheese balls. They freeze
beautifully and are always a party favorite. We savored this spread over
the weekend and our frozen stash will do double-duty as a cost-effective
substitute for Boursin, Rondele, or Alouette cheese.
Recipe Yields: Approximately 2 1/4 cups (19 ounces)
16 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup sour cream
1/2 cup freshly-grated parmesan cheese
2 cloves garlic, minced or pressed
2 teaspoons dried parsley
1 teaspoon dried chives
1 teaspoon dried dill
1/4 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
Substitute herbs of preference. Blend, or process, all ingredients until
smooth. Portion and freeze. Defrost in refrigerator and serve as a dip or
spread at room temperature.
