Hi,
I have 2004 year xc model(80 mm travel). Weigt/pressure table on the
fork says 7 bar should be enough for my weigth (72 kg), but the fork
keeps bottoming out even on small jumps like sidewalks. Is something
wrong wtih my fork?
Thanks, Rajko

Put a cable tie around the fork stansion so it gets pushed up as the fork
compresses. Place the bike close to a wall. Get on the bike without
bouncing and sit on it with your full weight, leaning on the wall for
balance. The fork should compress about one quarter of its full travel (in
your case, 20mm). The cable tie allows you to measure this. If the fork
compresses more than this, increase the pressure and try again.
If when you have got it set right according to this test the fork /still/
bottoms then yes, there is something wrong, get it serviced.

TFTuned are the daddys of Rock Shox servicing. Really, a Rock Shox XC fork
isn't made for handling jumps, they're not the sturdiest things in the
world. A set of second hand bombers would be a good bet if you can't fix
these (probably not much more cash than a rock shox service).
