  1. My 9 year old daughter is getting slowly interested in biking (I bought a road bike recently and I'm doing about 100 miles a week or so - without her, I hasten to add :-)). I've taken her for some short rides around the local roads (thankfully pretty quiet roads), no more than 5 miles at a time. However, she's eager to go more often ("Daddy, I'd like to do 35 miles this weekend" :-)) and I am eager to encourage her...

One aspect I'd like to address "formally" is road sense - knowing the basics of lane changes, signalling and a defensive approach to cycling on the road. I can teach her some of this but I gotta believe that there are some organisations out there that can address this in the context of a formal class. This will also help get it into her mind that this is serious stuff.

Does anyone know of such classes? FWIW, I am in the Seattle area.

    Thanks.

    Mark
