Hello everyone! I have been reading this forum for a while and tought I would join in.
Anyways, I have a 2001 Specialized Allez Elite and just put on some Shimano M540 pedals. Is this a bad idea? I ride mostly in town, so the double sided pedals is best for me.
How many others have a mountain pedal on their roadbike?
I also have a MTB but these pedals are mainly for the Roadie.
I use double sided M505 pedals on my bike on the road. These have more lateral movement for my feet and are far easier to un-cleat than road pedals. The shoes are easier to walk in too. For me its about comfort and that equates to safety.
I have a Cannondale R600 with M520 pedals on it. I also have road shoes. Kind of a weird mix, but it works just fine. The double-sided are easy to get in and out of. I only got them because they were in my price range and that's what the LBS had. However, if and when I upgrade, I will just throw the pedals on my MTB and buy some dedicated road pedals. For now, however, I see no need.
