This is just sort of a general question on road biking. I am a cross country runner, which has a lot to do with endurance. I was just wondering if cycling is the same type of racing, or if it is more leg muscle vs. endurance?
If any of you know what it's like to race in a 5k or more run, you know the feeling when you're not even half way done and you feel like you can't go on, but you have to keep pushing. Is that type of feeling comparable to road racing, or is it different.
Like the guys racing in the tour de france. Do they feel like they're in the middle of a marathon, or do they feel like they've been doing the leg press in the weight room for an hour?
Cycling has a lot to do with endurance, and not much about strength (except for track racing). Haven't ever run 5K nor have I leg pressed for an hour straight. I would think that road racing like the Tour de France would feel more like a marathon (it's been said that the TdF is like running a marathon everyday, although that probably is a little exaggerated) than like leg pressing for a long time. But either way, it can be quite tiring.
