  1. hey everyone. a novice question for you.

    thinking about purchasing a road bike and wonder what the weight range of road bikes is. saw a good deal for a 24-pounder but this seems pretty heavy. would a lighter model make riding that much easier?

  2. Maybe. If you're heavy, you'd probably be better losing weight on the body, not the frame. Also, in general, the lighter the bike, the better the bike is all around. Of course there is a limit. Weight of a road bike may range from 9 lbs (supposedly "ridable"😉 to 25 lbs+, depending especially on purpose.

  3. Don't judge a bike -- or make a purchase decision -- based on weight. It's much more complex than that. Read these posts, talk to bikers, get experience. Low weight typically means either a compromise towards high-end racing stuff that'll blow your mind for 500 mi, and then wear out, or low-end cheap stuff, with all kinds of middle grounds. Too general of a subject to post much that's meaningful...
