what would be a good, extra strong, bike for under 500. im a little over 200 lbs. but enjoy cycling immensly. any suggestions are welcomed?

I would like an answer to this post also. I've got many friends that don't have the cash to purchase a "really expensive bike", but I would like to see them pick up the sport. What are you guys reccomendations?
