  1. Seems like 2.5" is the limit for Azonic and the others
    I Googled.

    Do name brands make robust bars in, say, 3 or 3.5" heights?

    There's always BMX bars.

    Too much. They tend to fold forwards under hard braking.
    Livens up the day, but I can do without it.

    Actually, 2.5" is probably going to work fine; I was just
    fishing for the extra inch for CYA and because it would give
    a little more latitude when tuning reach. OTOH, it might
    start crossing the "fold/no-fold" line....
