Hoping someone has experience with these goers. What advantage if any does a rim trainer have over an ordinary magnetic or hydaulic trainer that is driven off the tyre. I believe rim trainers were invented to suit MTB's, where the tires are not suitable for the direct contact of a normal trainer.

Looks like it would eliminate tire wear, but might wear the rim.
