So, I have a wonderful bike trailer (riders.com.auproduct info.phpOpen ↗) for 2 and 4yos, and 10 and 12 yo ride their own bikes. A bike trailer has its own intruiging issues and benefits with traffic. I have actually found people are really much better when they spot it, more courteous and considerate, and wow, the interest it generates! Its a talking point everywhere, and apparently people are starting to recognise me around the neighbourhood. I ride everywhere, shop with bike/trailer/panniers, love it.
SO, does anyone else ride with kids? What ages? Tips and techniques? Equipment?
I much prefer it to a 2 wheel trailer because it requires much less energy to get places!
My 6.5 year old has been on 2 wheels since he was 3. At 3.5 he rode 12 miles with me! However, I often prefer to use the above "3 wheeler" as we call it because it's much easier to keep him safe and away from cars if he's attached to me!
and will start the 13 month old on it this summer. The eldest loves it (I ride a racing bicycle on the road here, with her behind, telling passing cyclists that 'her daddy is waaay faster than they are'😉. 🙄 We are riding the Danube cycle trail as a family this summer (two rented mtbs and trailers for my wife and I). Will let you know how it goes! 😄
