  1. Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone here has ridden from nimitable down towards bega (can't remember the road, might be the monaro hwy?) down brown mt and then cutting through the back ways towards candelo and then down to eden. My brother's keen to give it a go when we head home for christmas and I was just wondering if anyone had done this stretch and what's it like. I have a feeling that he mainly wants to ride down brown mt, which I must say I find kinda appealing as well, but I wasn't sure if the roads would be that great for riding.

    thanks for any info
    cheers

  2. Drove it about 6 years ago in the other direction. Road between Eden and Candelo was good if I remember right, but hilly - lots of blind crests.

    thanks classic,

I probably should have been a bit clearer, I grew up in eden and so I'm pretty ok with the roads from candelo to eden. I agree they're not the best but thought they should be ok. It was more the road down the hwy from nimitabel to the candelo turnoff that had me concerned, especially on the wednesday before christmas.

I've never really done any touring before so just wasn't sure how feasible it is going down a single lane hwy.

  4. I distinctly remember the road at the bottom of Brown Mountain was really wide. The descent from the top would be awesome. I think its 17km. I wouldn't worry about cars there - you'd be passing them!.😄

Wednesday before Christmas might be suck though with all those Canberrans heading into Eden, Merimbula and Tathra for the hols.

  5. Thanks mate,

the descent is definitly the part we're looking forward to, I'm pretty sure we're going to give it a go, should be fun. Hope the traffic isn't to bad but I guess in this case we just need to suck it and see. My sister-in-law will be driving so worst case scenario we call her and get her to come back and pick us up.

    have a good chrissy
