  1. Any opinions - good or bad - on the Ridgback Genesis series ?

Haven't been on a bike for nearly 15 years, and am considering a Genesis Day
    01.

    TIA.

    Alan.

  2. I've got the Genesis Day 00, which is basically last years model of the one you want. It is a good,
fast bike thanks to its 52/42/30 chainset.

The only problems I have had have been with the rear wheel... cheap hubs and spokes. I had five
broken spokes in the first 5 months (a 22 mile round trip into London each day). I think this was
more of how the spokes were laced, along with the tensioning of them.

I even had the wheel rebuilt after the first 4 broken spokes (free from the chain I bought it from).
After the fifth spoke broke I had a long conversation with the manager of the shop and persuaded him
to replace the rear wheel. This he did, a Mavic Cosmos, free of charge.

As they've changed the hubs, spokes and rims on the newer model I'm assuming that won't be a
    problem for you.

Tyres are ok for smooth, glass free roads but something a bit more substantial may be in order for
    city cycling.

Had a problem with numbness in the nether regions with the saddle as it's not really designed for
the upright riding position of a hybrid, replaced it with one of those Specialized cut away things.

Changed pedals for SPD's, a personal preference.

Good fast, light strong bike apart from the above.

Funny, I sent my feedback to Ridgeback for their 'Rider feedback' part of their website and made
positive comments about the bike and negative ones about the wheels. It's never appeared on there!
