For the folks in Colorado and the surrounding areas, your chance to ride up the most famous mountain in America is coming this summer. The inaugural "Assault on the Peak" will take place on Aug. 29.
The Pikes Peak Highway will be completely closed to all motor vehicle traffic for the day - allowing cyclists to make the entire ascent for the first time ever.
The ride will begin at the Pikes Peak Toll Road tollgate and ascend 6,200 feet in 18.4 miles to the summit.

Wow, I had a hard time breathing and I rode the tram car to the top! !4,400 feet at the top, if I recall correctly. You sir are a better man than I.
