  1. The regular commute home today. Left rather later than usual. Lighter
traffic, better progress. Suddenly... Thunder. Lightning. Monsoon.
Break out the waterproofs? No, already soaked. Puddles like ponds.
Lucky I remember where Bracknell Forest installed the potholes.
Slipping dynamo. Misting glasses. Stinging hail (balding pate spared
by casque - again tested by events beyond its design parameters). Home
safe. Warm shower. Dry clothes. *Tea.* Bliss.

What a joy it is to live in a country that has not only seasons but also
weather (if I knew an emoticon for "I'm not being sarcastic" and felt
sure you'd understand it I'd have inserted it here). Cycling really
    connects you with the elements.

I'll make the same trip tomorrow and tomorrow, rain or shine until I
retire and I'll enjoy it. Would that my car commuter colleagues felt
    the same.

    Fantastic, isn't it.

How very evocative. I almost feel like I am there with you.

(In fact, yesterday evening on the commute home, I really was there
with you - getting soaked and enjoying it while everyone else was
    running for cover... the wimps!)

The thing with cycling is that you're not just looking at the picture,
    you're in it.
