Over 5000 riders and I must have seen them all, as they passed me. It was a cold and windy day with
a very good chance of rain, so before the ride I decided to ride only part way on my upright
commuter bike that has fenders, and backpack loaded with clothing. As it turned out the rain didn't
happen,so I kept on riding. 80 miles and 5.5 hours on the upright nearly killed me! My neck, back
and shoulders... you know. But the comment I wanted to make was my surprise to see only one bent. It
was a fully faired (body sock) low bottom bracket LWB. It went by so fast that I didn't get a good
look. I also saw a tatooed guy with riding a single speed. Other than that, it was thousands of
Treks, and lots of very expensive other brands. No cheap bikes. ( Do you suppose if they were there
then maybe I was able to stay ahead of those?) It was for a very good cause and I had fun, in a
mashochistic sort of way. Just am surprised by the lack of bents.

I too was shocked by the small number of bents out of 5000 riders. There was me on my Aero and a guy
from Houston on a T-Bone. I saw the guy with the body sock leave with one of the first packs let
loose. I was in Line number 6, so we didn't start till 8:45! Then I saw three other bents on the
road, a Silver Tour Easy, a black Corsa and some low riding thing with under seat steering.And man my AERO just keeps getting better!
I ate up so many road bikes, it's crazy and not fair. The Aero is just so fast!
I did get blasted by some strong Euro Dog types. They must have been Lance's friends. There were
some very strong cookies in Lycra out there.I did the 70 miles and the 100 mile guys joined with about 30 miles left.
Man, packs of FIT looking dudes rolled through.
YOUNG! STRONG! HEALTHY! Stud boys in jerseys with Euro Ads all over them.
I could not hang with them to save my life! Some Packs of Hammer dogs were rolling at 30 plus
without effort!They would blast by me and I would cringe in their wake!
I loved it! I would try to hang with them but would get spit out in about 10 seconds. My lungs and
legs just could not hold them.But the ride was great! And for a great cause!
