Right, I know that in the past people have just been able to turn up and camp on the common ground next to the Station Inn at Ribblehead. Question is - is it still possible to do this? I seem to remember reading something somewhere about people complaining about it and the council were planning on stopping the access? So, does anyone have any info on this as I plan to wander off in that direction in a rare 24hr period (spread over 2 days!) off work next Friday/Saturday.

Ribblehead east of the Viaduct is common grazing land and not really supposed to be camped on etc. You could probably find a place out of sight from the road though. Nearest available camping is at Northcote Farm at Selside (hot water and WC), Beezley's Farm at Ingleton and The Hill Inn who permit camping at very reasonable rates. Proper camp site with facilities at Horton in Ribblesdale.

Cheers for that info - Hill Inn is looking like an idea - Horton in Ribblesdale sort of defeats the object - (walking from one station to another!). Will probably change my plans and walk Ingleborough to Hill Inn on Friday and then Hill Inn to Ribblehead on the Saturday morning (in time for the train at 1049!).
That is unless I can find out if anyone is staying at the nearby Gearstones Lodge Outdoor centre (which is on my original route). If not I'll see if I can pitch in the back garden!
