  1. A neighbor and fellow freecycler dropped off a bag of rhubarb for me
from her garden. (Zucchini, too, but that's not what this post is
    about.)

I have been procrastinating on making Barb's rhubarb custard cake
even though it sounds *amazing*, because I don't tend to buy cake
mix, and don't tend to like cakes made from it.

Then I had an epiphany: I can make yellow cake batter and go from
    there, right?

So I just bought cream and eggs and milk, and we're gonna see how it
goes. I'll let you know, and post the recipe if it turns out well.

Hint, you're from my neck o' the woods so you will probably want to
cut down the sugar a bit. I found the recipe "as is" was way too
    sweet for me.

I'm a dork. I put out two bowls of sugar for my cake-making
venture: One with 2.5 cups in it for the cake batter; one with 1
cup in it to sprinkle on top.

Um, big is big and small is small, right? I get those confused
    sometimes.

So what's in my oven is vastly-reduced-sugar custard cake, because
the batter and rhubarb were already in the baking dish before I
    realized it.

    We'll see.

Needs more sugar to offset the sourness of the rhubarb, but I like
it. James *hates* it. More for me.

Yeah, it must be a female thing... my hubby hated it too but I was
willing to give it a second chance. I'm not much of a cake eater, so
second chance time hasn't rolled around yet.
