Back when we lived in San Jose, CA I found a hearty dinner salad at
Original Joe's, downtown. It was called "Lou's Bowl" and described as
an "Italian Bolito Salad." Among other things it contained boiled
beef, tuna, and anchovies, on a bed of lettuce (Romaine?),carrots, and
a host of other garden goodies. The standard dressing was olive oil
and vinegar.
Does anyone have a recipe that sounds similar?
(Otherewise, I guess I will have to drive 1200 miles, order one, and
watch carefully as it is made!)

Does anyone have a recipe for savory kolaches filled with egg and/or meats
and/or cheese? Typical meats might be bacon, ham, sausage... some even had
chilies in them.
My husband used to live in Houston, TX, and really enjoyed the savory
kolaches you could buy there. We have been looking for a recipe for the
savory version for the last five years, and only find the sweet
(fruit-filled) versions, which is not what he wants. Aside from the actual
recipe, if there are instructions on how to fill them the right way, that
would be appreciated, too! Thanks!
