Replacement chaninrings for XTR 952?

I replaced a broken XT middle ring with an LX ring...have not noticed any
difference. Mainly because that was what the local shop had in stock ($24).

What happened to your ring?
I broke a tooth right off the same model chainring with no indications of
hitting anything.
I agree on the cost as I'm on my way to my LBS to pick up the new one right
now. However I kind of figure that I once spent all this cash on XTR why
should I get cheap now?
