Well, I ordered an interesting bike off of Ebay today. This is a
replacement for the bike I had stolen a few days ago (Gary Fisher Marlin).
Being a college student, I simply couldn't afford the new Bianchi Brava
that I'd had my eye on. The higher end, custom bikes will come in time,
but for now, I gotta be realistic.
I probably couldn't have bought a more different bike from what I had.
The bike is a Takara road bike, 12 speed from the 1980s. The frame
looks great and the components are in decent (or easily serviceable
shape). Should be just about right for the flat terrain that I plan to
use it for (trips to the library, tennis courts, shopping, etc.)
The bike will possibly need new tires, maybe a new saddle, handlebar
tape, and I'll give it a good, overall tune-up and wash.
Oh yeah, and I'm getting a new lock, too. A big, tough one. ;-)
