My Colnago C40 Carbon Frame started showing signs of fraying around the rear dropouts (within the 2 year warranty period). It's gone back to Italy, and I am told that, rather than replace it, Colnago will "unbond" the tubes, carry out a repair and "rebond" my frame back together. I'm not particularly delighted with the thought of that kind of work being done to my race bike (not to mention the months it has taken for the work to be done).
I'm led to believe that this is fairly routine work for Colnago(!) Has anybody had any experience with this kind of problem/repair with a C40 (or other carbon) frame?
I've seen this work done at the factory with no problem, and a friend who was an engineer there loaned me a C-40 once for a week's chase of the Giro that had had the entire rear end re-bonded -- no problem at all.

Its a bonded frame. Bonded frames will always seperate at the joint. Might take 1 year. Might take 5 years. Might take 50 years. But remember, its just glue. You could've saved yourself a lot of time and money by sending it to Harry Havnoonian. They do bonded repairs on Vitus and Alan frames all the time. And they are in Philly, so no major international shipping charges either.
