the heli-coil inside the cable guide/clamp bolt hole on my old D/A rear derailer somehow backed itself out on my last ride. Is this repairable, or was there even supposed to be a heli-coil in that bolt hole?

yes Hooky after further investigation the heli-coil does belong in there, it was not stripped out by a shop. as the whether or not it is repairable or not, the jury is stil out.
